Tractor trailer crash in Manitoba

A tractor trailer jack-knifed and blocked the lanes of the eastbound Trans-Canada Hwy just one dm east of Tinkertown. The accident occurred at approximately 2:30 am on Friday, Aug. 22, 2008. No injuries were reported by the emergency personnel and the truck was the only vehicle involved in the incident which tied up eastbound traffic for a short time while emergency crews cleared the mess. Weather conditions and visibility was poor at the time of the accident due to a heavy rainfall and wind.

Lightning causes fire in Alta.

The partially-built Ramada Hotel in Lac La Biche burnt to the ground overnight on Monday, Aug. 18, 2008, after a lightning strike sparked a fire. For the second night in a row, severe thunderstorms brought heavy rains, lightning and thunder to the Edmonton area and northern Alberta. Read Article

Drive through Calgary thunderstorm

MyNews user Darlene Iversen got caught in a thunderstorm that moved through the Calgary region on Sunday, July 28, 2008. 'There had to be about 1 inch of rain on the road and the sides of the road were flooded,' she says of the downpour. Some areas were also hit by hail.
