At approximately 10:40 am, a fatal motor vehicle collision occurred in Cochrane, AB. A Honda Odyssey van, with 1 male occupant was southbound on 5 th Ave at a level, marked train crossing within the Town of Cochrane when it collided with a eastbound CP Rail train. The impact pushed the van approximately 800 meters down the tracks. EMS and STARS were dispatched to the scene. Unfortunately, the 80 year old male driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the driver is not being released at this time, pending notification of next of kin. Cochrane RCMP are continuing to investigate this matter.

We heard the sounds of multiple vehicles becoming involved in the crash at about 8:10am this morning, and found this scene on 15th SW between 1st and Centre st. As far as we could tell, 1 man was in custody and another female suspect had been located in a nearby underground parkade. The purple sedan allegedly hit the parked red car, before swerving into the moving pickup truck, then hitting a tree, where the occupants then fled on foot.
