Is Vancouver the greenest city in the world?

From MyNews user Stephen Shaw: This morning I awoke to find our city's workers clear cutting 2nd Avenue's trees. I'm a resident along this street and it is a real shame to see these beautiful trees that for years have worked so hard to pretty up this dreary stretch of pavement, felled and fed into a wood chipper in a few seconds. Why were neighbouring residents not consulted let alone told about this?

Garage fire in Vancouver

MYNews user Myles Chupa filed this video of a garage fire, July 12th around 4 a.m. in East Vancouver. You can hear sirens in the background as fire trucks make their way to the scene. The flames were so hot that the sides of several vehicles parked on the street nearby melted in several spots. Read full story on CTV British Columbia.

People dressed in black holding candles hold a silent gathering for the third night at the Vancouver Art Gallery at 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2009, in support of people in Iran.
